Too many people are struggling, and many practitioners are feeling stretched.
Over time, we found ourselves noticing this more and more in our work. Not just occasionally, but in a way that felt familiar.
People were showing up, doing the best they could, trying to understand themselves, and still feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or disconnected. Often, they weren’t quite sure why.
At the same time, we were having conversations with other practitioners who were holding a lot in the room. There was a quiet sense that something more was needed. More time, more support, or something that could sit alongside the work and support people between sessions.
Live Life Empowered grew out of these moments.
We kept coming back to the same thought: there could be a more accessible way for people to begin to understand what is happening within them.
Something that could help things make more sense.
Something people could return to in their own time.
Something that could support both individuals and the practitioners working alongside them.
That is what led to Live Life Empowered.
The people behind it
Live Life Empowered was created by two experienced therapists who between them bring decades of clinical practice, trauma-informed training, and a shared commitment to making this work more accessible.
Josie Cowley
Trauma-informed Counsellor and Co-founder
Josie is a counsellor who is dedicated to a holistic approach to therapy and healing, supporting the full spectrum of emotional experience.
Her work is shaped by a deep respect for each person’s individual journey, and an understanding that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to healing. She draws on a range of therapeutic modalities so she can meet people where they are and support what feels most helpful for them.
Over time, Josie has worked with a variety of mental and emotional health challenges, and continues to be drawn to approaches that honour both the mind and the body.
At the heart of her work is a commitment to creating a space where people feel supported, understood, and able to explore their inner world in a way that feels steady and manageable.
Andrea Crabtree
Trauma-informed Social Worker and Co-founder
Andrea is a registered social worker with the Australian Association of Social Workers and a professional education trainer.
Over many years, she has supported individuals and groups to build healthier relationships, navigate life’s challenges, and move towards a way of living that feels more meaningful and aligned.
Her work is grounded in trauma-informed, nervous-system-aware practice, and shaped by what she has seen again and again in working alongside people. Often, when individuals begin to understand what is happening within them, things start to make more sense, and change feels more possible.
Andrea’s approach is compassionate and down-to-earth. She values creating a space where people feel safe enough to explore, reflect, and begin to understand themselves in a deeper way.
